Name of Course: Lake Course
Designer: Robert Trent Jones Jr
No. of holes: 18
Total Distance: 7,204 yes, Par 72
Sprawled alongside Lake Yang Zong Hai, this course provides a stimulating and invigorating golfing experience. As the course steps down to the lake in a series of terraces and palisades, it is breathtaking and challenging at the same time. The Signature Hole 8, par 3 is deceptively simple from the tee but the positioning is unforgiving and challenging. "Spring City is a golfing experience that capitalizes on the existing features of the property while taking advantage of the other elements - such as the dramatic view, changes in elevation and the expansive nature of the site"- Robert Trent Jones Jr.
Transfer back to the resort after golfing.
Non-golfer: At 8.30am go on a tour to Jiuxiang National park (1.5-hour drive).
Stop awhile at Bao-shu-tang well-known for Chinese herbal medicines of which Yunnan is famous if you are into herbal medicines. The demonstration is very interesting, but the sales pressure is rather strong. Tell the guide to skip it if you are not interested. At 12 noon lunch at Jiuxiang Hotel restaurant. This is followed by sightseeing of Jiuxiang National Park, inclusive of a 20-minute Cuiyin Gorge cruise, a 60-minute visit of the underground caves and a cable car ride back to the parking area where your transport waits to take you back to Spring Golf Course.
Join the golfers for dinner at the Spring Golf Course restaurant.

Spring Golf Course:

No. of holes: 18

Spring City's Mountain Course is designed by the Golden Bear himself - Jack Nicklaus. “The course utilizes the natural undulations of the terrain, thus maximizing the golf strategy with the challenges of side hills and elevated greens and tees" -Jack Nicklaus. Framed by beautiful native pines and rock outcroppings, the natural beauty is on full display here; but it is also a course that's equally full of golfing challenges. From the Signature Hole 8, par 3 to the world famous Hole 18, par 4, voted one of the top 500 holes in the World by US Golf Magazine Jan 2000, this course is truly a golfer's inspiration.

Sunshine Golf Club: Kunming Sunshine Golf Club is located in the north of Kunming City and only a few minutes from downtown linked by the Kunming-Qujing Express Way.
A par 72 championship course playing 7231 yards that is the centerpiece of this 260-hectare master-planned course provides an unmatched view of not only the golf course but distant views of Kunming. The diversity of the site terrain creates a truly unique and traditional golf course, which meanders through two separate and distinctly different valleys that possess a variety of native vegetation. The golf course will test your skills with its challenging and enjoyable aspects.
The driving range is the first one in Kunming equipped with lights, which is offering the best service from morning to night, including professional coaching.
Non-golfers: At 8.30am go to Jin-ma-bi-ji walking street for free shopping before being joined by the golfers at 1.30pm to lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch everybody go on a tour to the Western Hills 35 minutes drive away for sightseeing. Ascend the mountain by cable car with a one-way mini-train transfer at Western Hills to visit the dragon grottoes and have a bird’s eye view of lovely Lake Dian. At the foot of the hill 15km from Kunming is Huating temple, one of the largest and oldest groupings of surviving Buddhist structures in northern Yunnan constructed in the 11 century as a Nanzhao kingdom temple of the Thai people. Visit the famous Sanqing Taoist Temple which is actually a group of temples, shrines and pavilions that was once the country villa of a Yuan dynasty prince now dedicated to the three main Taoist deities. At the top where the view around is magnificent is Dragon Gate - a group of grottoes, sculptures, passageways and pavilions hacked into the cliff-face by a Taoist monk and his disciples from 1781 to 1853. At 5.30pm proceed to Luyu for a tea performance before going to dinner at Chiangmai Restaurant. Again the tea demonstration is very educational, but at the end of it is the sales pitch. Visa: Chinese visa is a permit issued to a foreigner by the Chinese visa authorities for entry into, exit from or transit through the Chinese territory. The Chinese visa authorities may issue a Diplomatic, Courtesy, Service or Ordinary Visa to a foreigner according to his/her identity, purpose of visit to China and passport type. The Ordinary Visa consists of eight sub-categories, which are respectively marked with Chinese phonetic letters L, F, Z, X, C, G, D, J-1and J-2. For our purpose of touring Yunnan we don’t need to bother with any but the L Visa, which is the tourist visa. This visa is readily available from Chinese embassies and consulates in most countries. It is best to get an application form in person at the embassy or consulate, though it is possible to obtain one on-line at embassy websites. To avoid hassles don’t give your occupation as writer or journalists and don’t put in Tibet as a destination, nor use of bicycles as a mode of transport! Submit 2 photos with the fee. It takes about 3-5 days to obtain the visa.
Cost of L Visa: For the standard 30-day visa, single entry the visa fee varies between USD12 to USD20. Double entry visas is USD18-30. This 30-day visa is activated on the date you enter China, and must be used within three months of the date of issue. (Longer-stay visas normally start from the day they are issued, not the day you enter the country.)
Validity of Visa: normally speaking, a visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance (date of application) and on any day within this period, the visa holder may enter China. Visa extensions can be done when you are in China , but the conditions keep changing from day to day and from place to place. So enquire first. The penalty for overstaying your visa is a 500 Yuan fine per day.
Duration of Stay Specified in the Visa: normally speaking, a visa holder may stay in China for 1 month counting from the date of entry into China . To stay longer, you need to specify your request in your application form and it’ll be subject to the permission of the consul in charge. Overseas Chinese Visa Authorities, include Chinese embassies, consulates, visa offices, and the consular department of the office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. If a foreigner intends to enter into, exit from or transit through the Chinese territory, he shall apply to the above-mentioned Chinese visa authorities for a Chinese visa. For further information, please consult the nearest Chinese visa authorities. The Chinese government requires that your passport must be valid for at least six months after the expiry date of your visa, strange as that may be. Have at least a full blank page for the visa to be stamped on. And whatever you do don’t lose your passport. The hassle of getting a new one is very costly in time and money.
Airport Tax upon Departure from Kunming: USD 10
Health Precaution: Normal precaution.
Insurance: Travel insurance is recommended, but not necessary.
Direction to meeting point: At airport upon arrival with signpost of name.
